I graduated with my Bachelor of Business back in 2004 but only started working in the tax accounting field in 2006 after taking a bit of a working gap year after my university graduation. Since starting in the Tax Accounting field, I tried my hand at Management Accounting for two years between 2011 and 2013 before ultimately realising that Taxation Accounting is where my passion lies.


At this time, the former business owner, Joe Oram, was looking to hire another accountant, so I applied for the position and was successful, starting in June 2013 with the firm. In 2014, Joe decided that he would like to retire from accounting and follow his passion for farming. At this point in time, he offered me the opportunity to purchase the business from him. It was an offer I could not pass up. In October 2014, the business sale was finalised, and I haven't looked back!


I am fortunate to be supported by an amazing team who help ensure the business runs smoothly and we provide excellent service to our fantastic clients every day. Without them being willing to sacrifice time away from their families, I would not be able to do what I do and keep a smile on my face. Prior to working as an accountant, I worked in a variety of roles in fast food, cafes, retail, and the tourism industries, all of which have given me a set of skills that have helped me in my role as an accountant today.

I'm Jacquie, and I've been part of the team here at Joe Oram & Associates as an associate accountant since November 2023.


My journey into the world of numbers began with a business degree, leading me into a decade-long career in accounting. It was an engaging chapter of my life, filled with learning and growth. However, there came a time when I decided to step back from the profession to focus on raising my children.


During that time away from accounting, I didn't just sit still. My passion for storytelling took the front seat, and I found myself diving into creative writing. I explored the realms of fiction, crafting characters and worlds that lived and breathed beyond the pages. Writing wasn't just a pastime; it became a significant part of my life, adding over a million words to the literary universe through various novels, novellas, and short stories.


But the world of accounting called me back. Since returning, I've embraced my role with a fresh perspective, blending my analytical skills with the creativity honed during my writing years. I expanded my horizons further by studying Data Science through James Cook University and I am now eager to see where this new knowledge will take me in my accounting career.


Outside the office, I'm an avid reader, a perpetual learner, and a bit of a renovation enthusiast. In a nutshell, my life has been a journey of balancing figures and fiction, spreadsheets and stories. It's an eclectic mix, but a worthwhile path that has taught me the value of versatility, adaptability, and embracing every chapter with curiosity and dedication.

Practice Manager

I joined Joe Oram & Associates in 2011 and have seen the business restructure after Joe and Helen retired and sold it to Mandy in 2014. After a few years as a Receptionist in a job share role, the full-time position of Practice Manager was offered to me when Mandy took over, which I gladly accepted.


I enjoy the work environment here; with our different personalities, we have many laughs and like to keep the atmosphere friendly and casual with our clients. Mandy is very mindful when it comes to creating an environment that has a healthy work/life balance; considering the majority of us are working mums, the flexibility Mandy affords us is greatly appreciated and is one of the major bonuses of working here.

I commenced part-time employment with the Joe Oram and Associates team in February 2013 in a job share position as an administration assistant. Our office had a smooth transition when Mandy Wallace purchased the business from Joe Oram in 2014. Throughout my working life, I have enjoyed working in a professional office environment with a variety of responsibilities and tasks. I have the benefit of working with our friendly team of co-workers. It is a pleasure being the first point of contact for our clients and to assist them with their taxation needs.



After leaving school, I began working full-time as an office junior and receptionist for a local solicitor's office. Within 12 months, I had commenced working as a legal secretary. I worked for two solicitor firms over a period of approximately nine years. I then commenced part-time work as a secretary for a local valuation firm for approximately 12 years. I have over 20 years of experience as an administration officer, and I am fortunate in that I have enjoyed all my positions in a variety of offices during my working life.
